How to cultivate wild chives

How to cultivate wild chives

1. Soil

Wild leek is more suitable for cultivation in soils below 2,000 meters above sea level, with rich nutrients and convenient irrigation and drainage. Avoid continuous cropping, otherwise it will lead to variety degeneration and slow growth.

2. Temperature

12-25℃ is the optimum temperature for its growth. During the high temperature period in summer, you should pay attention to shading. During the winter, you need to spend the winter in a greenhouse and control the temperature above 5℃ to prevent frostbite.

3. Lighting

It grows best in sunny conditions. Ensuring sufficient and soft light can promote its metabolism and accelerate growth. Otherwise, developmental delay or even growth withering may occur.

4. Fertilization

After entering the autumn period, it will be in a stage of rapid growth, and fertilizer and water should be supplemented in time. You can apply compost or urea fertilizer 2-3 times along with watering.

5. Watering

Water the plants in time after planting, and water them once to help the new leaves grow out. Its growth will slow down in late autumn, so just make sure the ground does not dry out when watering. During the rainy season, attention should be paid to drainage to prevent root disorder and root rot.

6. Notes

1. When harvesting, you can leave part of the rhizome in the soil, which can generally grow 5-6 times.

2. Attention should be paid to timely disinfection of the soil. Chemical pesticides such as dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane and carbendazim can be used for disease prevention and control.

3. Prepare for dealing with pests such as aphids and whiteflies, and spray appropriate amounts of insecticides, miticides and other pesticides for prevention.
