Is bougainvillea a climbing plant? How to make cuttings take root quickly?

1. Is it a climbing plant?

Bougainvillea is a climbing plant. If it is maintained near a wall and the construction work is done well, it can climb. But if you want to grow it in a potted plant, you must build a frame so that the plant can climb up, otherwise it will not be able to climb. Moreover, if you want it to achieve the effect of a climbing vine, you should also pay attention to ensuring good lighting and do a good job of daily watering. In addition, regular pruning is required to remove dry and aging branches.

2. How to make cuttings take root quickly

1. Soilless cuttings: Cut a branch from the bougainvillea, trim off the excess leaves, and wrap the upper and lower parts with paper towels. But the buds cannot be covered, they must be exposed so that new buds can grow better. Then soak the paper towel and disinfect it, and finally put it in a plastic bottle with small holes on it. Next, place it in a cool place and spray some water every 2 or 3 days. It will take about 10 to 15 days to grow roots.

2. Sponge cuttings: First prepare a small piece of sponge and drill a small hole, but do not drill it completely through. Then disinfect it and set it aside. Cut strong branches from the plant, leaving only 2 leaves, soak them in rooting water and let them dry. Then insert it into a sponge, soak it with clean water, cover it with a film to keep it moist, and new roots will grow in about 15 days.
