Hibiscus cultivation methods and precautions

Hibiscus cultivation methods and precautions

1. Matrix

Hibiscus has no requirements for soil, as long as the soil is fertile, moist, well-drained and breathable. Sandy soil can be used for growing this plant. Not only the soil needs to be breathable, but the flower pots also need to be breathable to prevent water accumulation and affect the plants.

2. Lighting

It prefers an environment with plenty of light, but not a dark and humid environment, so in daily life, make sure the plant receives sufficient sunlight. The plants should also be exposed to light in winter. Sometimes the strong direct sunlight in summer can cause certain damage to the plants, so appropriate shading should be provided when the sunlight is too strong.

3. Temperature

It has very weak cold resistance and will enter a dormant state when the temperature drops below 5℃. The plants should be moved indoors in winter and the room should be kept ventilated. The indoor temperature should be between 0℃-10℃ to allow the plants to hibernate naturally. In winter when there is sufficient sunlight, the plants can be placed in the yard to receive light. When there is not enough sunlight outdoors, move the plants indoors immediately to prevent them from dying or losing leaves due to large temperature differences.

4. Water

It is not drought-tolerant and should be kept well-watered during the growing season. When the flower buds are translucent, we should reduce the amount of water appropriately to concentrate the nutrients of the plant on the flowers. Watering should be reduced in winter to prevent the plants from freezing or rotting due to being soaked in water.
