1. Family

There are many aliases for Moneywort, such as Passing Yellow, Green Screen Grass, Golden Key, Money Grass, Opposite Grass, Leaf Money Grass, Money Leaf Grass, Lotus Pod Grass, Mirror Grass, etc. It belongs to the Primulaceae family and the Loosestrife genus, and is a perennial creeping herb. It has a wide distribution range, mainly in tropical and subtropical regions.

2. Morphological characteristics

Moneywort has slender creeping stems that are relatively soft and covered with short gray hairs. The leaves are opposite, kidney-shaped to round in shape, and have a little hair on the surface. The flowers are solitary in the leaf axils and the corolla is yellow. The capsules are nearly spherical and relatively small.

3. Growth habits

Moneywort likes warmth very much. It will grow better if the temperature is kept within the range of 16-24℃. The temperature in winter should not be lower than 5℃. It likes a humid environment and requires a lot of water. Whether it is wild or kept at home, it is important to ensure that it has enough moisture.

4. Reproduction Methods

Moneywort can be propagated by cuttings and sowing. Cuttings are more commonly used because the seeds are smaller and grow faster, so this method is not commonly used.

Moneywort is edible and can be eaten in many ways. It has certain therapeutic effects.
