Strawberry planting technology and management

Strawberry planting technology and management

In recent years, many farmers have begun to grow strawberries , not only because strawberries are rich in vitamins, essential minerals and some trace elements for the human body, but also because strawberries have high economic value. Let’s talk about strawberry planting technology and management.

1. Choose the right variety

There are many varieties of strawberries, and different varieties are adapted to different environments and growing conditions. When choosing varieties, factors such as local climate, soil and market demand should be considered. Generally speaking, early-maturing varieties are suitable for growing in cold areas, while late-maturing varieties are suitable for growing in warm areas.

2. Prepare good soil and improve soil

Strawberries have high requirements for soil and prefer to grow in loose, fertile, well-drained soil. Before planting, a soil test should be conducted to understand the soil's pH value, organic matter content, and nutrient status. If the soil quality is not ideal, it can be improved by adding organic fertilizers , lime or Zhikang Taizong bacterial fertilizer.

3. Reasonable fertilization and water management

Strawberries have high demands for nutrients, especially nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. During the planting process, reasonable fertilization should be carried out according to the soil test results and the growth stage of the strawberry. Under normal circumstances, top dressing can be applied during the strawberry flowering period, fruit expansion period and color change and ripening period, and strawberry-specific functional fertilizers such as "Shuangbao Taizong", "Pengda Taizong" and "Tianliang Taizong" can be sprayed on the leaves. In addition, strawberries have a high demand for water, especially during flowering and fruiting. The soil should be kept moist, but avoid overwatering which can suffocate the roots.

4. Regular pruning and pruning

Strawberries are perennial plants that produce multiple side branches each growing season. To keep strawberry plants healthy and increase yields, they should be pruned and trained regularly. Pruning removes old, disease-damaged, and insect-damaged branches and promotes new growth. Pruning can make the plant's branches more even and improve light and ventilation conditions.

5. Pest and disease control

Strawberries are susceptible to a variety of pests and diseases, such as gray mold, leaf blight and aphids. In order to prevent and control pests and diseases, a variety of measures can be taken, such as regular inspections and removal of plants damaged by pests and diseases, and the rational use of pesticides and biological control. At the same time, hygiene and ventilation conditions in the field should be maintained to reduce the occurrence and spread of diseases and pests.

6. Timely harvesting and storage

Strawberries are perishable berries and should be handled and stored as soon as possible after picking to maintain their freshness and taste. Generally speaking, the ripeness of strawberries can be judged by the color, size, and texture of the fruit. When picking, the fruit should be twisted off gently to avoid damaging the fruit and the plant. After picking, strawberries should be placed in a well-ventilated place with suitable temperature, avoiding sunlight and high temperature. If long-term storage is required, refrigeration may be considered.

As people's living standards improve, the demand for strawberries is growing, and the number of friends growing strawberries is also increasing. Everyone should master the strawberry planting methods to improve the yield and quality of strawberries.
