How to water the cold orchid

Watering principles

The watering of Cymbidium should be strictly controlled. On weekdays, it is best to keep the soil in the pot moist but not wet, and dry but not arid. Water when the soil is dry and wet, and water thoroughly when you do. Keep the soil slightly dry at other times. The orchids grown in this way will have a well-developed root system and grow healthily, with very few root rot and premature aging.

Many flower lovers who have just started to learn how to grow orchids are afraid that the orchids will lack water, so they water them whenever they have time. This causes the soil in the pots to be too wet and the orchid roots to rot, thus leading to failure in their initial venture.

Watering method

Watering method

Generally, watering is done every 8-15 days in late spring, every 4-6 days on sunny days in summer, every 5-10 days in autumn, and often without watering for more than 20 days or even more than a month in winter and early spring.

Watering is generally done in the early morning or evening. Avoid watering at noon or pouring water directly on the head.

Watering cycle

In order to facilitate relatively unified management of large and small pots, the pots are reasonably allocated according to the number of seedlings and the degree of development of the root system. That is, more seedlings are planted in large pots and fewer seedlings are planted in small pots. Large pots are used for seedlings with developed root systems, and small pots are used for seedlings with poor root systems. You can also use strong seedlings to lead weak seedlings, and rare and famous varieties to accompany common varieties. This is in line with the orchid's habit of growing in clusters, accumulating orchid fungi and promoting growth, and can basically achieve the same watering cycle for large and small pots.
