GraftingThe most recommended method for propagating white jasmine is grafting. The rootstocks are mostly 2-3 year old magnolia and yellow jasmine. Grafting on the branches of white jasmine plants can be done in June. The length of the incision is about 3-5 cm. Use plastic strips to tie it tightly after it is joined to make the cambium layer tightly combined. After about 3 months, when the rootstock and scion have basically grown together, they can be cut off from the mother plant, and the upper part of the rootstock can be removed to obtain a new plant. LayeringThe second most commonly used method is layering propagation (ordinary layering and high branch layering). Ordinary layeringThe best time to perform this layering method is from February to March. First, cut the branches to be layered at about half the depth, cut a section upwards, then put a small piece of tile in the middle, and slowly press the branches into the soil to avoid breaking them. You can use "U"-shaped thick iron wire to help fix the branches to prevent them from curling up, and finally pile up the soil. If this layering method is used in spring, the plants can be cut and transplanted after the roots and buds emerge. High branch layeringThis layering method requires selecting disease-free, strong young branches with a diameter of about 1.5-2 cm from the mother plant before the beginning of the dog days, cutting a crack at the lower end of the pot, then putting on a bamboo tube or a bottomless clay pot, filling it with culture soil, and tying it on the outside with a thin rope to avoid being touched. Water frequently, but the amount of water should not be too much, just enough to keep the plant moist. New roots will grow around May of the following year, and you can remove them and transplant them. Seed propagationThe most basic method of propagation is sowing, which is best done in late September or early October. Soak the seeds taken from the ripe fruit in wood ash water for 1-2 days, rub off the waxy aril, wash them with clean water and then you can sow them. If sowing is done in pots indoors in March, seedlings will emerge in about 20 days. Cutting propagation methodOf course, the cutting method can also be used for the reproduction of white jasmine, but because its reproduction and regeneration ability is relatively weak, it is difficult for the cuttings to take root and survive, so this method is not recommended. Generally speaking, the breeding process is relatively simple. I believe that after a little understanding, flower lovers will be able to get started easily. |
