Summer management of cyclamen

Summer management of cyclamen

Cyclamen's performance in summer

The plant's stress resistance is sharply weakened in summer, which is mainly manifested in the following aspects:

1. Frequent outbreaks of pests and diseases

1. Bacterial diseases

2. Anthrax

3. Vascular diseases

2. Decreased salt and drought resistance

The temperature is high in summer, and fertilizer suitable for the growth of cyclamen has just been applied. Due to the large amount of water loss of the plants at noon, the EC value in the soil increased sharply and soon exceeded the maximum tolerance value, causing great damage to the cyclamen. Therefore, during the summer, the fertilizer concentration can be halved, but the fertilization frequency can be doubled.

Strategies for Cyclamen to Overcome Summer

Create a suitable living environment

Considering the teacher-student environment of cyclamen, most wild cyclamen grow low in the shade of trees in the mountains and on semi-shaded slopes. Therefore, it is best to create a good living environment for it.

Generally speaking, temperatures above 30°C and light above 40,000 LUX will damage cyclamen.

Proper shading

As for shading, you only need to pull up two layers of sunshade nets to meet the requirements, but when the light is not strong, you must open them in time to help cool the ground and ventilate it. Do not provide too much shade when shading, otherwise the cyclamen will easily grow too tall and its resistance will be weakened.

Spray cooling

There are many ways to cool down, one of which is this, but the sunshade net must be kept at a certain height from the plastic film and cannot be covered directly. In addition, light mist and rain are also very good methods.

However, the negative effects of using water evaporation to cool down cannot be ignored. The continuous increase in air humidity in the greenhouse makes cyclamen face the threat of disease outbreaks. Therefore, it is particularly important to strengthen ventilation and do a good job in disease and pest prevention.
