Propagation of the City That Never Sleeps by division

Propagation of the City That Never Sleeps by division

When to divide the plants

The evergreen aloe vera grows very fast and has a strong root reproduction ability. There are often some small plants growing around the roots of an Aloe Vera plant. These small plants are the main ones used for division propagation.

Screening of ramets

Before propagation by division, remove the soil and pot of the original plant of Aloe Vera. Then filter.

Choose small plants that already have independent root systems. Some newly grown small plants are not yet mature and their root systems often have not yet grown. This is not suitable for breeding.

Division method

Select the part to be used for reproduction, pinch it with your fingers at the growth point where it is connected to the root system of the original plant, and gently break it apart from the original plant. Do not use brute force, otherwise the small plants that are broken off will have no root system and will be difficult to survive.

Planting preparation

Leave the separated plantlets to air for a while to allow the moisture in the wounds to evaporate naturally. Then put planting soil into the planting container. Don’t add too much soil. It should be determined according to the size of the flowerpot. It is mainly used as the bottom layer. In order to facilitate the growth of the root system, you can use ash soil and a small amount of humus soil.

Planting and filling

Place the plant in a planting container, comb out the roots, support the plant with one hand to stand up, and slowly fill the soil with the other hand to cover the roots, then slowly fill the soil upwards along the roots to allow the roots to spread out naturally. Don't fill too much soil, just enough to reach the stem of the plant and the bottom of the leaves.

Be careful not to damage the roots.

Watering after planting

After filling the soil, water it thoroughly. If the conditions are right, new roots will generally grow and survive in about a week.
