How to grow chrysanthemum

Growth habits of chrysanthemum

The medal chrysanthemum has strong resistance and good adaptability to the environment. It can bloom as long as there is sufficient light. It can resist high temperature, drought and even salinity, so its survival rate is high and breeding is relatively easy.

Flowering management of chrysanthemum

Illumination of the Medal Chrysanthemum

Chrysanthemum is a sun-loving flower and must be grown in a sunny place because its flowers must open under the sunlight. The flowers will automatically close when there is no sunlight. If the potted plants are placed in a location with insufficient light, the leaves of the flowers will become thin, the branches and stems will be weak, the number of flower buds will decrease, the flower color will become dull and the flowers will become smaller, affecting the growth of the plants. On the contrary, if there is sufficient light, the branches and leaves will be full, the flowers will be bright, and the flowers will bloom continuously.

The cultivation temperature of the medal chrysanthemum

The best growth temperature for chrysanthemum is 16 to 25 degrees. Maintaining a suitable temperature is particularly important for the healthy growth of flowers. When the growth temperature exceeds 26 degrees, the plant is prone to elongation, the stem nodes become longer, the branches become thinner, and the leaves become fewer, affecting the beauty of the flowers. At this time, you can spray chlormequat (B-9) to alleviate the impact. In winter, the growth temperature must be kept above 5 degrees, otherwise frost damage is likely to occur. However, it can tolerate temperatures as low as 0 degrees for a short period of time, but not for too long. In addition , during the hot summer, the air humidity should not be too high, as it is not conducive to the growth and flowering of chrysanthemums.

Pest control of chrysanthemum

Chrysanthemum has strong resistance and low insect pest rate. Only occasionally there are leaf spots, aphids or spider mites. As long as you control the flowers to avoid excessive lush branches and leaves, pay attention to ventilation, and kill insects and sterilize in time, you can effectively prevent and control the disease. It should be noted that after the medallion chrysanthemums wither, the withered flowers should be removed in time. This can reduce nutrient consumption and encourage the flowers to grow more buds; it can also avoid bacterial infection caused by rotten flowers.

Watering conditions of chrysanthemum

The water requirement of the medal chrysanthemum is not high, and the stems and leaves only need to be kept moist by spraying during the growth period. Do not water too frequently to prevent the plant from being waterlogged and causing root rot and death.
