Hyacinth , a bulbous plant that is very popular in autumn and winter, can be easily cultivated to bloom even by novice flower growers. However, not everyone is suitable for growing this plant. Some flower lovers say that the hyacinths they grow have never successfully bloomed. Let’s learn about the cultivation methods and precautions of hyacinths . 1. Choose the right planting method For beginners, hydroponic hyacinth is the easiest method. When growing hydroponically, the water level should be kept about 1 cm above the bottom of the bulb to avoid direct contact of the bulb with the water surface to prevent rotting. If you choose to grow outdoors, soil cultivation is a better option. Hyacinths need loose and breathable soil, and you can use general nutrient soil or sandy soil. To prevent the bulbs from rotting, it is recommended to soak them in a solution of carbendazim before planting, bury them shallowly during planting, only cover 1/3 of the bulbs, and keep the soil slightly moist to promote rooting. 2. Lighting management Hyacinths do not require much light and can grow and bloom whether it is in diffuse light indoors or in sufficient light outdoors. However, if there is a long-term lack of light, the flower stems may become too long and fall over; while too much light may cause the flower stems to become short. Therefore, it is recommended to give hyacinth sufficient light after germination, and after the flower arrow appears, reduce the light appropriately, or place it in a bright scattered light environment. 3. Rehydrate instead of replace For hydroponic hyacinths, water is consumed quickly and water needs to be added in time, but changing the water should be avoided to avoid damaging the fragile root system. As for whether to add nutrient solution, this is not critical, because hyacinths are usually only cultivated for one year and are discarded after flowering, and the main nutrients consumed are the nutrients stored in the bulbs. 4. Notes Hyacinth flowers have a strong scent that may interfere with sleep. It is recommended to place it in a well-ventilated living room or use it for toilet deodorization, but avoid placing it in the bedroom. The scent of hyacinth flowers may cause discomfort to people with allergic rhinitis or asthma. It is recommended that such people do not grow them or only plant them outdoors. The above are the cultivation methods and precautions for hyacinths. Although hyacinths are beautiful, many people are not suitable for cultivation. If your hyacinths do not bloom, there may be a problem with the management method.
