How to propagate succulent bulbs

Sowing and propagation of succulent bulbs

Seed propagation is the most commonly used method for propagating succulent bulbs, and it is often chosen to be sown in autumn.

The seeds of the bulb are relatively small. Sow the seeds on the seedbed, and the seedbed can be made of suitable sandy soil. After sowing, you need to cover it with glass to prevent the seeds from being washed away when watering. For sowing bulbs, when the seedlings have not yet emerged, you can water them by soaking them in water, that is, place the flower pot in a pot filled with water, and let the water slowly soak the soil. When the bulb seedlings come out, this method can also be used to water them.

In the early stages of growth, the seedlings of sown light bulbs often become tilted and the roots are easily exposed. Generally, when this happens, you can use small tools such as toothpicks to cover the roots and straighten the plant that has fallen outward.

Propagation of fleshy bulbs by division

The bulb usually starts to grow in the autumn, and in the winter and spring, the plant will give birth to new plants inside. Normally, a light bulb will only give birth to one new plant, but sometimes it can split into two or even multiple heads, and this is a group growth. If the bulbs grow in groups, you can take down the new plants and propagate them by division. However, because bulbs are difficult to grow in groups, and growing in groups has different ornamental effects, most people will just let them grow unless there is a need to divide them. Therefore, when propagating light bulbs by division, it depends on whether they grow in groups!
