How to water African violets

African violet is a relatively moisture-resistant plant, so just keep the soil in the pot moist on a daily basis. Generally, it is best to water the plant once a month to dilute the salt accumulated in the pot. Maintain a suitable humidity environment. Too much humidity will easily lead to bacteria and rot, while too dryness will easily attract insects. Generally, the watering temperature should be as close to the plant as possible, and watering should be avoided at noon in midsummer or at night in winter. The suitable time to water African violets is generally watering in the spring morning, in the early morning or evening before the sun comes out in summer, more water is needed in autumn, and watering at noon in winter is more appropriate.

African violets watering precautions

African violets prefer a growing environment with high humidity, so maintaining a high air humidity, such as frequently spraying water on the leaves and the surrounding area, can promote faster growth of African violets. However, good ventilation conditions are also required, and bottom water supply can be used.

Each time you water, make sure to fully wet the medium so that excess water flows out from the bottom of the pot. Under normal room temperature conditions, the watering cycle of African violets is about 3-7 days, and there are three ways to supply water: spraying, irrigation, and bottom pot water absorption. The spray can also clean the dust and deposited salts on the plants. Pay attention to the water temperature to avoid water damage. The advantage of watering with a long-spouted kettle is that it will not cause water damage marks. The last type of bottom basin water absorption is to pour water into the bottom water storage basin, use capillary phenomenon to absorb water into the medium, wait for a few minutes until the medium is saturated with water, and then pour out the excess water.
