Pelteobagrus fulvidraco breeding technology and methods

The yellow catfish is also called yellow bone fish, yellow croaker, etc. It has tender meat and delicious taste. It is a very popular and best-selling fish. Let’s learn about the breeding technology and methods of yellow catfish.

1. Fish pond selection

The pond should be selected for convenient transportation, close to a water source, with sufficient water, convenient drainage and irrigation, no pollution around it, and an area according to the needs of the farmer. The pond should have a flat bottom and clay loam soil. Equipping the pond with oxygen equipment is beneficial to the growth rate of yellow catfish.

2. Fish stocking

After installing the water inlet and outlet fences and dredging and disinfection, about 3,000 yellow croaker fingerlings, each weighing 10 to 20 grams, are released per 667 square meters of water surface.

3. Daily feeding

Yellow catfish can be fed with cut earthworms, fresh clam meat, small fish, shrimps and other baits. They should be fed twice a day, at 9:00-9:30 in the morning and 16:30-17:00 in the afternoon, mainly in the afternoon, accounting for 60%-70% of the daily feeding amount. The specific feeding amount should be flexibly controlled according to water temperature, weather and fish growth. Generally speaking, 80% of the yellow catfish in the pond are full and leave the feeding ground.

4. Water quality adjustment

Add new water every 7 to 10 days, 20 cm each time; change the water every 15 to 20 days, 20% to 30% each time. Alternating the use of lime and EM bacteria every 10-15 days at 10-15 kg/mu and 1-1.5 kg/mu can improve water quality and sediment. Open the aerator in time to keep the dissolved oxygen in the pool water above 5mg/l.

5. Fish disease prevention

The pond must be disinfected with quicklime before the fish are put into the pond; the fish must be soaked in 2% dichlorvos solution for 10 to 15 minutes or 2% to 4% salt water for 4 to 5 minutes; during the breeding period, quicklime and strong chlorpyrifos and other drugs should be rotated and spread throughout the pond once every 10 to 20 days.

Regularly adding compound probiotics to the feed can prevent enteritis, balance the reproduction of intestinal bacteria, help growth, improve resistance, reduce the occurrence of enteritis, diarrhea, loose stools, feed feces, etc., and improve the breeding rate and uniformity.
