How to sow coleus seeds

Basic information on coleus sowing

Coleus can be sown. Generally, the shelf life of purchased coleus seeds is up to two years, so it is necessary to sow them as early as possible. The suitable time to sow coleus is in spring and autumn. Generally, it will enter the flowering period about 13 weeks after sowing.

Characteristics of coleus varieties

Coleus is a perennial herb with a short plant height of between 25cm and 30cm. Its leaves are small and colorful with very rich colors.

The suitable temperature for the growth of coleus is between 15℃ and 35℃.

Steps for sowing and propagation of coleus

When sowing coleus, first put soil in the container. Generally, nutrient soil is enough. You can directly buy some ready-made soil, fill the container 70% to 80% full, and water it thoroughly.

Sow the coleus seeds in a container, cover them with a layer of soil, bury the seeds, and then compact them slightly. You can spray water appropriately to keep the soil moist, and be careful to avoid direct sunlight. Keep the temperature at 20℃-25℃, and it will germinate in a week.

When the seeds of coleus begin to germinate, water them when the soil is dry and gradually increase the light intensity. Note that you can start fertilizing when the cotyledons are fully expanded, usually applying fertilizer thinly and frequently. When the seedlings are 3 strawberries tall, they can be transplanted. Keep sufficient light during the growing period.
