weeding

Weeding can reduce the competition between other plants and Jerusalem artichokes for nutrients, especially after the Jerusalem artichokes emerge, it is necessary to replant them and weed in time. The soil can be loosened 30-40 days after sowing, and the depth can be controlled within a certain range, combined with loosening the soil for weeding. Weeding creates good conditions for tuber growth and development.

Fertilization

Jerusalem artichoke itself does not have high requirements for soil and fertilizer, so it is okay not to apply fertilizer after it grows. Jerusalem artichoke needs to be fertilized twice during its growing period: the first time is around late May, with urea to make the seedlings strong and produce more new branches; the second time is at the early stage of bud formation, with potassium sulfate, followed by watering.

earth

After the seedlings emerge in spring or after rain, the soil should be cultivated and weeds should be removed in time.

Watering

Jerusalem artichokes need to be watered during the seedling stage, jointing stage, bud stage and tuber swelling stage. Generally, they can be watered once in mid-April, once in late May, once in mid-August, and once in mid-October to promote tuber swelling. In the semi-arid regions of central China, in years with normal precipitation, there is actually no need for watering as long as there is no severe drought. If the summer and autumn are both very dry, water once in mid-to-late August.

Bud picking

The flower buds of Jerusalem artichokes need to be removed during the growth and expansion period of the tubers, which can promote the expansion of the tubers.
