How to reproduce Dendrobium officinale

1. Site selection

Site selection and land preparation need to be based on its growth habits. When planting, you need to choose an environment that is neither too shady nor too exposed to sunlight. The air humidity also needs to be maintained above 80%. It can only be planted in areas where the temperature can be maintained above 0 degrees in winter. Of course, artificial control of its growth environment is also possible. When choosing tree species, you need to choose living trees with relatively high water content and lush branches and leaves. The area should be chosen in a relatively cool and humid area. It is best to choose stones with moss and humus growing on the surface.

2. Division

Choose plants that grow more densely. After they bloom, take them out of the pots and cut the base of the old root-covered stems. Be careful to avoid damaging the root system as much as possible when cutting. Just cut the connected roots. You can also separate the roots with your hands, put the main plants as a group, and then remove the old roots. When planting, place the newly sprouted part close to the middle of the pot, then cover and compact the soil, and it will become a new plant!

3. Bud Division

After three years of potted cultivation, or when new small plants grow out of its top or base, you can start cutting buds. Choose small plants with three or four lobes and two or three roots with a root length of four or five centimeters. Cut them from the mother plant, disinfect the wound to prevent infection, and then you can plant the small plants in the pots. When planting, be careful not to plant them too deep. Generally, it will bloom after two years.

4. Cuttings

When taking cuttings, you can do it when repotting and dividing. Choose branches that have not yet bloomed and are growing well. Cut them into several small pieces after cutting them. After disinfection, insert them into the substrate soil, leaving them exposed generally outside. Keep them in a moist and cool place. Do not water them for a week, and then spray them with moisture. They will generally germinate in one or two months. The best time for cuttings is from April to August.
