How to Make Firecracker Plants Bloom at Christmas

How to Make Firecracker Plants Bloom at Christmas

The actual flowering period

They basically bloom in the first half of the year, but this flower originally grows in the tropics. So the required temperature is still very high. In South China and further south, it can be planted in the open field and there will be no problem with the flowering period being half a year. When in bloom, clusters of them hang on the branches, and each inflorescence looks like a tangled string of firecracker wicks. The whole thing looks like rows of firecrackers, which not only adds to the atmosphere of the New Year, but also adds color to the entire winter.

Flowering tips: strictly control the flowering period

If you already have experience in planting, you must choose the right time for planting. If you choose layering, you can do it in spring and summer, preferably in summer. It will take about 20-30 days for the roots to grow after the operation is completed. Then, about 45 days later, you can cut off the new plants. If there are no problems with the treatment, they will bloom this year. Therefore, it is recommended that you calculate the time before the operation. Don’t wait until autumn to plant, otherwise they will not be able to bloom that year. One thing to note here is that after planting, you must use a watering can to give it enough water so that it will be easier to take root.

Flowering tips: proper maintenance

No matter how well the preliminary work is done, it will not work if the later maintenance cannot keep up. Therefore, you must firmly grasp every key period of proper maintenance. Before flowering, you can apply fertilizer once a month. In summer, you can also increase the humidity in the air. You can sprinkle water on the ground nearby or spray water around with a spray bottle. Autumn is also very critical because this is the time when flower buds begin to differentiate. At this time, don’t think about watering more. Instead, water less so that the flower buds can grow faster.
