How to propagate the succulent plant David

How to propagate the succulent plant David

1. Stem cuttings

The succulent David is the same as other succulents, and the propagation method is also very similar, but because it usually grows relatively slowly, the most commonly used method is cuttings. For cuttings, sometimes there are two types: stem cuttings and leaf cuttings. Generally, stem cuttings are often used.

First, we can find relatively fresh stems, and then cut them into sections with a knife. Then we cannot insert them immediately. We need to wait until the wound is dry before we can proceed. After drying for a period of time, we can observe. If the wound has recovered, we can start cuttings. Because it grows relatively slowly, the roots will not take root quickly, so we need to wait patiently. During this period, we must maintain it well, such as keeping the soil moist at all times, but there should be no stagnant water.

2. Leaf cuttings

In addition to the stem cuttings mentioned above, the leaf cutting method is also commonly used for succulents, so this method can also be used.

First, we can find some thicker leaves and prepare the substrate for cuttings. Commonly used media include perlite and other loose media placed in the soil. Then we can slowly insert the prepared leaves into the soil surface. It won’t take long for them to start taking root. If we observe carefully, we can find that many small buds will begin to grow from the base of the leaves. After a few days, they will grow into smaller plants. The cotyledon cuttings are now complete. In addition, just like the stem cuttings above, we must take good care of them before germination. We can water them appropriately, as long as the soil is kept moist, but there must be no stagnant water.
