How to Plant Pear Tree Seeds

How to Plant Pear Tree Seeds

1. Seed collection

You can just use the pear cores you use after eating. Leave the fresh pear cores until the flesh is completely softened, then rinse them in water, rub them gently with your fingers to wash away the flesh and other impurities, leaving plump, flawless seeds. You can place the seeds on a mat or a clean cloth and place them in a dry place to air dry. This process usually takes place in autumn. After overwintering in this environment, the seed germination rate and survival rate are higher.

2. Germination

1. After drying, it should be stored in a storage room before the soil freezes, usually before November.

2. Prepare a basin of sand, wet it with water, mix it in the ratio of three parts sand to one part seeds, place it in a shady storage room, and cover it with 10 centimeters of wet sand. This can prevent the seeds from dehydrating and losing vitality.

3. After a winter, the wet sand will freeze. When the temperature rises in spring and the sand thaws, it will be the process of seed germination. During this period, it is best to stir the soil every day to prevent the seeds from becoming moldy or rotting due to the heat inside the sand. Keep the sand moist, but not dripping. Cum it into a ball with your hands and then loosen it until it can fall apart.

After the catalytic process, the seeds will gradually grow small sprouts and turn white. At this time, they can be planted in the soil.

3. Sowing Method

Prepare several pots with good drainage and ventilation, plant the seeds at a depth of about one centimeter, one seed in each pot. They will be transplanted later. This step is mainly to grow them into seedlings. Seedlings will grow in about 20 days.

4. Post-management

1. Keep the soil in the pot moist, place it in a sunny place, take good care of it, and let the sprouts grow into seedlings. After the growth is stable, you can transplant it.

2. It takes about five years to mature, so be patient.
