How to Plant Dogwood Seeds

1. Seed selection

Generally, we will choose some high-quality mother trees that are growing stronger. Wait until September to October every year to pick the fully ripe fruits that are full of grains and free of diseases, then remove the pulp and disinfect them properly.

After disinfection, we can find some wet sand, mix it with the seeds and store them in the sand. Generally, they can be used for sowing in the spring of the following year.

But if you want to sow in autumn, you need to soak them in clean water of no less than 70 degrees before planting, and then you can plant them.

2. Land Selection

After the seeds are ready, we need to start preparing the land.

Generally, we choose places with fertile soil, flat terrain, loose soil, sunshine, wind and convenient watering so that it can grow healthily.

After choosing the land, we need to cultivate it properly and level it. We must not allow weeds, gravel and other things in the soil, otherwise it will affect the germination of seeds.

Till the soil again to a depth of about 20 cm, then add some farmyard manure into the soil to ensure the initial nutritional needs.

3. Sowing

Sowing is usually done in spring, around the vernal equinox.

Before sowing, we must first make some ridges on the land with a row spacing of about 30 cm. At the same time, we must also open some shallow trenches and water them. After all these are prepared, we can prepare to spread the seeds evenly.

First, dig out the seeds that have been hidden in the sand, then sow them, and then cover them with 3 to 4 centimeters of soil. After about 40 to 50 days, seedlings will grow, and then we can start normal management work to allow the seedlings to grow quickly and strong.
