Naturally grown succulents

Succulents originally grow in relatively poor environments and do not require rich soil.

The pictures below are all succulents in the wild

What soil to use for growing succulents at home

But if we want to grow more beautiful succulents, we certainly need fertilier soil. The special soil that can be directly purchased on the market is as follows:

Does it look troublesome? Don’t worry, Huahua will teach you some simple soil preparation methods, it doesn’t cost a penny.

Leaf mold

Leaf mold is a common soil around us and can replace coconut bran soil. It is rich in various nutrients and can fully meet the various nutritional needs of succulents!

There is a lot of leaf mold under the trees on the roadside, but it seems to have a lot of impurities. We can collect the finer soil, mix it with a little sand, and use it for growing succulents.

There will be insect eggs and bacteria in the soil outdoors. You can expose it to the sun to kill bacteria. It is best to spray it with a solution of carbendazim or insecticide.

Cinder Soil

Burnt coal balls have many uses. You can just crush them with your feet, then wet the coal slag with water (it is best to use a solution of carbendazim to disinfect and sterilize), and then dry them in the sun to make them finer. Add some kitchen waste to increase nutrition, such as peanut shells and meat bones.

After that, dry it and crush it before use. When putting it in the pot, you can add some coarse sand and coal slag to maintain a fluffy and breathable environment, which succulents will like more.

Eggshell Soil

If you can’t find leaf mold or coal slag, don’t worry. Egg shells can also be added to ordinary garden soil as nutrient soil.

Crush the eggshells and place them at the bottom of the pot, or mix the crushed eggshells into ordinary soil. Will the succulents become plump?

You can also throw some crushed eggshells into the already fixed succulents to supplement nutrients and prevent invasion by snails and slugs.

As shown in the picture, the sharp broken eggshells can scratch the snails
