How to make bougainvillea bloom

How to make bougainvillea bloom

1. Water control

Although this plant likes moisture, this is for its growth conditions. However, if too much water is given during the flowering period, there will be fewer flowers and the pot will not bloom. There is a saying that goes "control the water for flowers to bloom, more water for leaves to grow", which makes sense. Therefore, strict water control is necessary, which means increasing the interval between watering. However, this has certain requirements for the temperature, which needs to reach fifteen to thirty degrees.

Generally speaking, after watering thoroughly once, you need to observe the leaves wilt and wrinkle before watering again, and water thoroughly. Do this three or four times and you will have more flower buds. Then, after normal water management, it will be beneficial for the pot to bloom.

2. Pruning

Pruning can be done in spring, before flowering. Cut off the small, weak branches and leave the strong branches. In this way, more flower buds will be formed during the flowering period, which will help the flower bloom more easily later. In addition to the branches, during the flowering period, the withered flowers also need to be cut off in time. In this way, you can avoid consuming too much nutrients and help the pot bloom.

3. Light

Light is essential for blooming pots. During the flowering period, you can place it in full sunlight, which is more conducive to flowering. but. Do not leave it outdoors in extreme weather.

4. Fertilizer

You can start with water control. During the flowering period, fertilizers containing P and K are mainly used, which are beneficial for blooming. It is best to use water-soluble fertilizer for best results. You can add it once every ten days to half a month, and don’t add too much at a time. In addition, it is best to dilute it before use.
