How to grow Amaryllis

How to grow Amaryllis

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: Use sandy soil with good drainage, and try not to use heavy soil with poor air permeability.

2. Temperature: The best temperature in summer is 18-22℃. Amaryllis is in a dormant state in winter, so the temperature should not be lower than 5℃.

3. Light: Amaryllis likes to grow in a sunny environment and cannot be exposed to direct sunlight for a long time. It is best to place it in a well-ventilated, bright window without direct sunlight.

4. Watering: Water thoroughly and do not water too much to avoid water accumulation that affects its growth.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Seeding propagation: The seeds can be sown after they are mature. Generally, they will germinate quickly at 18-20℃. Be careful when transplanting the seedlings so as not to damage the roots. After the seeds are sown and transplanted twice, they can be placed in small pots.

2. Propagation by cuttings: Cut the mother bulb into many pieces longitudinally, then cut its scales, insert them obliquely into the substrate, and transplant them when true leaves grow.

3. Common diseases

1. Spot disease: It will harm leaves, flowers and bulbs. Round spots will appear at the lesion site. After the onset of the disease, the diseased leaves should be removed in time and sprayed with carbendazim for sterilization.

2. Viral disease: Once the disease occurs, it will cause the leaves to turn yellow or even rot, or even the whole plant to die. When the disease occurs, cut off the diseased leaves and rotten parts of the bulbs in time, and soak them in warm water for about 3 hours to easily prevent and control it.
