How to grow spider plants

How to grow spider plants

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: When growing spider plants, you should use loose soil with good drainage. If the soil has poor drainage, water accumulation will easily occur, causing the roots of the plant to rot.

2. Water: It likes to grow in a humid environment, but it needs more watering when it is growing vigorously. When the weather gets colder in autumn and winter, be sure to control the amount of watering and do not water too often to avoid water accumulation. Water evaporates quickly in summer, so you can spray some water on the leaves.

3. Fertilization: Chlorophytum is very resistant to fertilizer. In spring and autumn, organic fertilizer is generally applied once a week. If no fertilizer is applied for a long time, the leaves will turn yellow. The amount of fertilizer should be controlled and not excessive.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Propagation by division: This method of propagation is not suitable for low temperature environments. Division can be carried out in spring, summer and autumn. Watering needs to be stopped in the first half of the division to keep the soil at a certain degree of dryness. When dividing the plants, cut off the flower stems and then plant them separately.

2. Cutting propagation: First, cut off the stems and leaves on the stem, and then plant it. After planting, it needs to be watered thoroughly and placed in a cool location for maintenance.

3. Common pests and diseases

Common pests and diseases when growing spider plants include whiteflies, aphids, scale insects, and root rot. After discovering that the plants are damaged by diseases and insect pests, they should be sprayed with appropriate pesticides immediately. At the same time, the damaged branches and leaves should be pruned off to prevent them from harming more branches and leaves.
