How to plant Ranunculus bulbs

How to plant Ranunculus bulbs

1. Time selection

Generally speaking, October to November is better. However, the basic requirement is that the temperature cannot be too high. This is because the tubers need to absorb water before they can be planted. If the temperature is too high, the tubers will easily rot, so low temperature is safer. It can be adjusted according to the specific conditions of different regions.

2. Container selection

The holes at the bottom should be larger to facilitate drainage. The walls of the flower pot should be thinner so that it is more breathable. Generally speaking, a flowerpot with a diameter of about 18 cm can plant three or five fibrous roots.

3. Preparation of matrix

You can first put a layer of rough soil at the bottom of the flower pot to facilitate drainage. The main substrate can be prepared with leaf mold, garden soil and sand, and an appropriate amount of bone meal can be added to increase nutrients.

4. Treatment of root tubers

Bury the root tubers in the wet sand, then wrap them in a plastic bag or something like that and place them in the refrigerator. In about a week, the tuberous roots will have completed their water absorption process. However, if the planting time is relatively late and the temperature is relatively low, there is no need to refrigerate.

5. Seeding and subsequent processing

Place the substrate in the container and bury the root tubers down into it. Then fill in the soil until it just covers the top of the bulb. The covering soil should not be too thick. After that, water it thoroughly and place it in a semi-shaded, ventilated place. Do not water during this stage of waiting for germination.
