The lotus leaf fern, also known as the lotus leaf money grass and the wire grass, is a Chinese-specific species of the genus Adiantum in the family Adiantum. It is a perennial fern.

2. Morphological characteristics

The plant of Adiantum sinensis is about 5 to 20 cm tall. Its rhizome is short and upright, the leaves are clustered, simple, the petiole is 3 to 14 cm long, 0.5 to 1.5 mm thick, and dark chestnut in color. The base of the leaves is densely covered with the same scales and soft hairs as the rhizome. The leaves are round or kidney-shaped, about 2 to 6 cm in diameter, with deep or shallow notches on the petiole. The upper side of the leaves grows around the petiole to form 1 to 3 concentric circles. The edges of the leaves have blunt teeth, and the underside of the leaves is sparsely covered with long brown hairs.
