How to grow agave

How to grow agave

1. Suitable soil

Choose a loose, breathable and fertile substrate. Leaf mold can be mixed with coarse sand and used as culture soil.

2. Sufficient water

During the growth period, the demand is high and sufficient water should be provided. However, it will hibernate in winter, so the amount of watering must not be too much at this time. If the temperature and light conditions are good, you can continue watering. If the conditions cannot be met, you can simply stop watering. In addition, no matter when you water, do not water excessively or allow water to accumulate.

3. Adequate lighting

Agave itself is a very light-loving plant. Therefore, sufficient light must be provided at normal times. However, it must be diffuse light, not too strong light, otherwise it will make its leaves become very dark. The plant can receive more light in winter to help it survive the winter safely.

4. Appropriate amount of fertilizer

It does not require much fertilizer because it has good adaptability. Generally speaking, using it once during the growth period is enough to meet the requirements. But it is best to judge based on its own growth. If the growth is not good, you can use more fertilizer. If the growth is good, just use it once.

5. Prevent diseases and pests

Summer is the season when many types of diseases and insect pests are prevalent, so timely prevention is necessary. After symptoms appear, the infected area should be treated promptly and with medication.
