Boxwood prefers light, but is also shade-tolerant. It is best to have sunlight during its growth and should not be shaded for a long time. It can withstand severe cold of around minus 20 degrees Celsius, but attention should be paid to shading in summer. The soil is generally loose and fertile sandy soil.

When raising boxwood trees, it is best to use fertile, breathable soil. You can water them more often during their growth period. Spray them when the air is dry. Apply fully decomposed cake fertilizer water 2-3 times during the growth period. Do not apply too much fertilizer.

Watering boxwood trees

Boxwood trees should be watered in a timely manner, especially during their growth period, when they require a relatively large amount of water. You can water them more often, but stop watering them in the later stages of the plant's growth to prevent the plant from growing too tall.

Boxwood Fertilization

During the growth period of boxwood trees, generally speaking, 2-3 applications of decomposed cake fertilizer water are enough. Do not apply too much fertilizer. You can apply base fertilizer once in winter to ensure that it survives the winter smoothly.

Boxwood Pest Control

A common disease of boxwood is sooty mold. The prevention and control method is to spray water on the leaves frequently to wash away the adsorbed dust. A common insect pest is scale insects. If the situation is not serious, they can be brushed off manually or sprayed with DDT or omethoate.

How to grow boxwood at home

1. For home cultivation of boxwood trees, you can use a mixture of vermiculite, peat soil, etc. for potting. The temperature should be controlled at around 25 degrees, which is more suitable for its growth. It should be placed in a sunny place at ordinary times.

2. Boxwood requires a lot of water during the growth period, so it needs to be replenished in time. In winter, watering should be reduced appropriately. It does not require much fertilizer. It only needs to be fertilized two or three times during the entire growth period. The fertilizer needs to be decomposed. When winter is about to begin, base fertilizer needs to be applied once.

Boxwood tree maintenance precautions
