When to plant lettuce

Lettuce Origin and Planting Month

Hunan lettuce

Peking lettuce

Beijing lettuce is usually planted in December or January and will mature around April of the following year. The lettuce grown in Beijing generally has pointed leaves, and the stem is thicker on the top and thinner on the bottom.

There are many varieties of lettuce, the most common ones include pointed leaf lettuce, round leaf lettuce, white bamboo shoots, purple bamboo shoots, green and white lettuce, green lettuce, red fairy, blue sky, green earth, Chinese blue dragon, red crown world and red sleeves heavenly fragrance.

Sharp leaf lettuce

Pointed leaf lettuce is usually planted in May and matures in June or July. The leaves of pointed leaf lettuce are lanceolate with pointed tips. It is a late-maturing variety with a rod-shaped fleshy stem.

Romaine Lettuce

Romaine lettuce is usually planted in winter and matures in spring. The leaves of romaine lettuce are obovate, grow densely, mature early, and have thicker stems.
