Spinach growth environment conditions and characteristics

Spinach growth environment conditions and requirements

Spinach is a common vegetable with high nutritional value. It is grown all over China. Spinach has good cold resistance and is a long-day vegetable. It is generally more suitable for growing in a warm environment with long sunshine hours.

Spinach Growth Temperature

Spinach does not require high intensity of sunlight. Generally, the seeds can germinate in an environment of 4 degrees. The most suitable growth temperature for spinach is 15-20 degrees. When the environmental temperature reaches above 25 degrees, spinach is prone to grow poorly. In addition, the lowest temperature that spinach can withstand is about 6-8 degrees.

Spinach Growth Humidity

Spinach is cold-resistant and drought-resistant, but not waterlogged, so when planting and maintaining it, the soil moisture only needs to be 50%. If you want the spinach to grow better, you can keep the soil moisture at around 70-80%.

Spinach growing soil

Spinach is highly adaptable to soil, but is not acid-resistant. It is usually more suitable to be planted in soil with strong water retention and fertilizer retention capabilities and rich nutrients. The main edible part of spinach is the leaves, so nitrogen fertilizer and phosphorus and potassium fertilizer need to be applied regularly during the growth period.

Spinach growth cycle and process

Spinach is usually planted in winter and can be harvested in spring. The growth cycle of spinach is generally about 35-45 days. As long as the temperature is right, it can be planted all year round. If planted in May in summer, it will mature in late June.
