How to propagate and what to pay attention to when taking root

Rooting propagation method

The propagation methods of ground rooting are cutting propagation and sowing propagation. Seeds can be propagated, and the natural reproduction method is sowing propagation. Ground rooting cutting propagation is the fastest.

Rooting and propagation time

Rooting usually occurs in spring from May to June, when the temperature is around 20 degrees, which is also the vigorous growth period of the plant, suitable for reproduction and with a high survival rate.

Rooting propagation method

Rooting cuttings propagation

1. The time for rooting and cuttings is from May to June every year. First, you need to choose strong leaves with full juice. After pruning, you need to put them in a well-ventilated place to dry for two or three days. Wait until the wound heals before cutting.

2. Lay the processed leaves that have taken root flat on the sand, keep them close to the sand, and keep the substrate slightly moist. Small buds will appear on the edges of the leaves 7 days after cuttings. When the plants grow up, cut them off and move them into pots.

3. You can also use branch cuttings to make the plant take root. Cut the top sturdy branches, about 8-10 cm in length, and insert them into a clean sand bed after the wounds are dry. It will take root after 7 days and can be transplanted after two weeks.

Sowing and propagation

Radiata can be propagated by sowing, usually in spring. Its seeds are very small and do not need to be covered with soil after sowing. Its germination rate of sowing is relatively high, and it will germinate about 12-15 days after sowing.

Notes on rooting propagation

Do not change the pots frequently after the seedlings have taken root and survive. It is best not to cultivate them in large pots, because large pots are rich in nutrients and can easily cause the plants to grow rapidly. Water and fertilize appropriately during the cultivation process, but control the amount. Too much watering will cause the plants to shed leaves or even rot. Watering once every 2-3 days is sufficient.
