How to cultivate saxifrage

Saxifraga belongs to the Saxifragaceae family. It has only two ways of reproduction, namely sowing and division. It prefers a warm growing environment.

1. Soil

When planting saxifrage, you can use sandy soil containing organic matter, and the drainage must be good. You can also use suitable materials to prepare suitable soil yourself.

2. Temperature

Saxifrage likes a warm climate. During maintenance, the temperature needs to be kept between 15-25 degrees. In winter, the temperature cannot be lower than 5 degrees, otherwise it will affect its growth.

3. Lighting

It is best to grow Saxifrage in an indoor environment with sufficient light. It can be properly shaded when the light is strong in summer, and it needs appropriate supplementary light in winter.

4. Watering

Saxifrage needs a lot of water during the growing period, and the soil needs to be kept moist. Avoid the soil in the pot being too dry, otherwise it will easily cause the plant to lose leaves. When watering, you must also do it in moderation to avoid water accumulation.

5. Fertilization

When caring for Saxifrage, fertilizer needs to be applied every 20 days. Nitrogen fertilizer is usually applied, but fertilization needs to be stopped in hot seasons and cold weather.

6. Pruning

When repotting saxifrage in spring every year, the old leaves and dead branches need to be cut off, which can promote the growth of new leaves. During the growing season, the yellow leaves, diseased leaves and some old leaves should be cut off in time. Removing old leaves can promote the growth of new leaves and maintain a good ornamental effect of the potted plants.

Precautions for breeding saxifrage

Saxifrage needs a certain amount of sunlight to grow, so it should be placed in a bright place indoors to ensure sufficient sunlight. It cannot be grown in a place without sunlight for a long time, otherwise its later growth will be affected. The surrounding temperature needs to be kept suitable and needs to be maintained at around 15-25 degrees Celsius.
