What are the breeding methods and precautions for dragon bones?

Keel Introduction

The dragon bone is also called triangular overlord whip and colorful cloud pavilion. It is a plant of the Euphorbiaceae family and the genus Euphorbia. It is propagated by cuttings. Each time it is cut, slurry will flow out and wood ash needs to be applied on the cut. It is a perennial climbing plant with a stem length of about 8 meters or longer. It climbs on the wall using aerial roots and is green in color.

Dragon bone breeding method

Dragon bones can be planted in sandy soil with good drainage and high humus content. Water it twice a week in spring and autumn. Stop watering when the temperature exceeds 30 degrees in summer. Apply fertilizer once a month during the growth period. Organic fertilizer is the main fertilizer and the amount used is determined as appropriate.

Watering method

The dragon bones are relatively drought-resistant, but they cannot be without water, otherwise the branches and leaves will turn yellow. Also, there should not be accumulation of water on the dragon bones. In addition to not watering too much, attention should also be paid to timely drainage and waterlogging prevention during the rainy season to avoid being exposed to wind and rain.

Fertilization method

In order to make the dragon bone grow well, you can apply nitrogen fertilizer once every two months during the growth period, bury homemade flower fertilizer in the flowerpot when potting, or bury about 30 compound fertilizers beside the flowerpot. In winter, you can fertilize once a month or so, but not too concentrated, and keep the temperature above 10°C.

Pruning methods

When the keel grows to 30 to 50 cm, it can be topped and allowed to grow naturally to form a multi-headed keel. When it grows to a height of 2 to 3 meters, many capitals will be formed, and it is likely to become top-heavy, requiring a frame to be fixed.

Notes on keel breeding

You need to be careful when caring for dragon bone flower at home. There are thorns on its fleshy stem and the white latex inside is poisonous. If it splashes into your eyes, the consequences will be disastrous. Do not touch it easily. Pay attention if there are children and elderly people at home. The dragon bone flower should be repotted every two years, and its rhizome is not very large, so we only need to choose a pot that is in the same proportion to it for replacement.
