Water lilies can be planted in the soil. Water lilies should be planted in loam rich in humus. The soil has strong fertility resistance and the underground stems grow fast. If you want to grow water lilies well, you need to prepare heavy clay soil. Apply base fertilizer in the planting hole before planting, cover the base fertilizer with a thin layer of soil, plant the bulbs, and fill the planting hole with soil to the bud end.

Water lilies are not very demanding on soil. They prefer to grow in soil rich in organic matter. When cultivating, it is best to plant them in a water depth of 25 to 30 cm.

Water lily soil cultivation method

1. Prepare the substrate

First clean the pond or flower pot, and then spread a layer of silt at the bottom. If you don't have it, you can use mountain mud or other soil instead, but be careful to remove large impurities, stones, tiles, etc. before planting, especially some large organic matter, because it is easy to float to the surface after pouring water, so it must be removed, and then add a small amount of water to dilute the substrate into mud.

2. Processing rhizomes

Take the water lily out of the pot, select some of the stronger rhizomes, cut them into a length of about 8-10cm, and make sure they have 2-3 young shoots.

3. Planting

Place the processed rhizome sprouts facing upwards and bury them in the soil with the sprouts exposed above the soil surface. Then add some water to cover the rhizome sprouts. Be careful not to add too much water, otherwise it will be detrimental to its survival.

4. Post-maintenance

After about a week, the soil will form a ball, and some flocculent substances will float on the water surface. After a while, it will grow young leaves. At this time, you need to add water according to its growth status to keep its young leaves floating on the water surface. After it grows many young leaves and the root system is stable, you can maintain it normally.
