Orange trees can be planted in the north, but the fruits they bear are basically inedible. The growth of orange trees requires more than 1,200 hours of sunshine per year and a growth temperature of 12-37°C. Most northern regions cannot meet this requirement.

Orange trees prefer a warm and humid climate and are mostly planted in provinces south of the Yangtze River in my country, mainly concentrated between 20-33° north latitude. The main producing areas of the plants are Fujian, Hunan, Sichuan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Jiangxi and other places.

How to grow orange trees in the north

1. Soil: Orange trees can be grown in potted plants in the north. They prefer acidic soil and can be planted in loose, breathable, well-drained sandy soil. During this period, ferrous sulfate solution can be regularly watered to prevent soil alkalinization.

2. Light: The most suitable growth temperature for orange trees is 12-37℃. It is a light-loving plant and has relatively high requirements for light. In spring and autumn, it can be moved outdoors to a location with sufficient light for maintenance.

3. Watering: Orange trees like moisture but are not tolerant to waterlogging. They need to be watered moderately during their growth period. In summer, in addition to increasing the amount of watering, you should also spray water on the stems, branches, and leaves of the plants in time to keep them moisturized, which can also achieve the purpose of cooling down.
