Asparagus cutting propagation methods and precautions

Asparagus cutting propagation method

Asparagus grows very fast in spring. Whether you choose to sow, divide or cut, you should choose to do it in spring. This way, it will take root quickly, the survival rate is high, and it is also very conducive to the growth of asparagus. The specific cutting method of asparagus is as follows:

1. It is very difficult to propagate asparagus by cuttings, and it is difficult for them to survive. This is mainly because edible stems are needed for propagation, and this part is tender and slippery. It is best to choose mature and strong edible stems to avoid those that are too tender and small to survive.

2. Asparagus cuttings need to be planted for several years, so the planting pots need to be slightly larger and deeper. The soil should be fertile sandy soil with good air permeability and not easy to accumulate water. It is best to mix garden soil, leaf mold, and river sand according to the proportion of one place.

3. Take a thick asparagus stalk and insert it into the prepared soil to a depth of 3-5 cm. Water it thoroughly once and maintain it in a semi-shaded environment. It will take root in about half a month.

Asparagus cuttings precautions

Asparagus can tolerate mild salinity, but when the salt content exceeds 0.2%, the development of the plant will be significantly affected, the stems and leaves will become thin and weak, and will slowly die. It is highly adaptable to the pH value of the soil and can be cultivated in soils with a pH value between 5.5-7.8, but it is best to be between 6-6.7.
