Can Philippine oil fruit be potted?

The Philippine oil fruit can be planted in pots or in the ground. Planting Philippine oil fruit in the ground requires more economic benefits. If you just want to try it and have the time and energy, you can plant it in a pot.

When planting potted Philippine oil fruit, you don’t need a very large flowerpot. Generally, a clay pot with a diameter of about 35 cm will be enough. After planting and well-cultivated, it will bear fruit after 3 years.

Potted cultivation method of Philippine oil fruit

1. Soil preparation

Philippine oil fruit does not require high soil conditions, is alkali-resistant, and grows better in fertile, moist, well-drained acidic soil. When planting, you can apply some base fertilizer to the soil to increase soil nutrients.

2. Pruning

When pruning, you should first cut off the diseased branches, dead branches, and overly dense branches. Let the whole tree form a round shape and look very balanced.

3. Watering

It is suitable for planting in a humid environment and needs to be supplemented with sufficient water. The soil should be kept moist all the time. Water it when it is dry, and be sure to water it thoroughly without any accumulation of water. Except in winter, it is only necessary to water it once every 2-3 days. In winter, it is only necessary to water it once every 4-6 days.

4. Fertilization

It likes fertilizer, so you can apply some base fertilizer appropriately. It is best to apply base fertilizer after picking the fruits in autumn. It is recommended to spray more foliar fertilizer and apply less base fertilizer. Fertilization needs to be combined with spring irrigation and topdressing of chemical fertilizers.

5. Temperature

It is suitable for growing in a warm environment and is not cold-resistant. The most suitable temperature for its growth is 15-25℃. After entering winter, the temperature must be at least 9℃. It grows best in a greenhouse at 5-10℃.
