Is Epiphyllum a shade-loving or sun-loving plant?

Does Epiphyllum prefer shade or sun?

Epiphyllum is a shade-loving herb. It is mainly distributed in temperate regions and is native to Mexico, Nicaragua and other places. It is suitable for growing in a humid environment and should not be exposed to strong light. It grows better in the shade in spring and summer.

Epiphyllum basking in the sun

Epiphyllum does not require much light during the growing season and is best suited to growing in a semi-day environment. In spring and autumn, it is best to have scattered light, while in winter it needs appropriate direct light. In summer, except for the Epiphyllum seedlings, the plants can be shaded and not exposed to light.

Epiphyllum can be exposed to the sun. In the spring, it needs a certain amount of light to grow, but it should not be exposed to direct sunlight all the time, as this will easily cause the flowers to wilt. During midsummer, when the plant is growing, it is important to shield it from strong light to prevent the plant from withering.

Epiphyllum growth habits

Epiphyllum likes warm, humid and semi-shady environment, and likes to grow in loose, fertile, well-drained slightly acidic soil. It has relatively high temperature requirements, and the suitable temperature for growth is 15-23℃. It is generally cultivated in potted plants and placed on the shady balcony at home for viewing.
