How to save seeds of forget-me-not

Forget-me-not has seeds, which grow inside its fruit. Its nutlets are oval in shape and about 2 mm long. You can choose the healthiest plants for seeds during the growing season, and then take the seeds after the fruit is fully ripe.

Wait until the forget-me-not fruits are fully grown and ripe, pick them and dry them, then store them in a cool and ventilated environment. Its seeds are relatively light, so be careful not to let them be blown away by the wind.

The forget-me-not plant can be propagated by seeds. Generally, September to October in autumn is the best time to sow. The climate at this time is relatively warm, which is conducive to the rooting and germination of the seeds. If properly maintained, they will germinate in about a week.

How to plant forget-me-not seeds

1. Seed germination

If you want to increase the germination rate of forget-me-not, it is best to soak its seeds in water for a period of time, take them out, wrap them in wet paper towels and place them in a warm environment. Spray water every day to keep them moist and wait for them to sprout.

2. Prepare the soil

Forget-me-not prefers loose and fertile soil. You can use humus, garden soil, fine sand, and manure to mix and prepare it. Be sure to disinfect it before use.

3. Sowing

Sow the forget-me-not seeds evenly in the soil, then cover it with a layer of soil. Control the temperature between 15-20℃ and keep the environment ventilated during maintenance.
