When and how to plant lentils

When and how to plant lentils

Lentil planting time

The lentil prefers a warm growing environment, and its seeds will germinate only when the temperature reaches 20-25 degrees. Therefore, it is usually sown in May-July in the Yangtze River Basin, and in June in North China. When sowing, the temperature must not be lower than 15 degrees.

How to plant lentils

1. Select soil and apply fertilizer: When planting lentils, it is necessary to plant in a place with deep soil and good drainage, and apply some farmyard manure appropriately to improve the fertility of the soil. After that, the soil should be deeply plowed and leveled.

2. Sowing: In order to increase the germination rate of lentils, germination treatment is required before sowing. It needs to be placed in a constant temperature box at 30 degrees. Sowing can be carried out after the seeds turn white. After sowing, a layer of soil needs to be covered.

3. Post-management: After the lentils emerge, they need a suitable temperature environment. During the day, it is best to keep it between 20-25 degrees, and at night it needs to be kept between 15-20 degrees.

Things to note when planting lentils

When caring for lentils in the seedling stage, there must be a good ventilation environment to avoid excessive temperatures and prevent the plants from growing too tall. In addition, the soil should be kept moist at normal times, and water accumulation should be avoided, otherwise it will affect the growth and development of the plants.
