How many years does it take for a pistachio tree to bear fruit?

Pistachio planting results after several years

If the pistachio tree is a seedling, it will take six years from the first year of sowing the seeds to bear fruit, but the quality of the fruit at this time will be relatively poor. The fourteenth to seventieth year after planting is the peak fruit-bearing period.

Pistachio tree fruiting time

Pistachio trees generally begin to bloom gradually from March to May each year, and usually start to bear fruit in July or August after the flowers fade. There are very few areas in my country where pistachio trees are grown, and the flowering and fruiting periods in other foreign regions will also vary due to temperature differences.

Tips for Planting Pistachio Trees

1. Growth habits : Pistachios like sunlight and grow in mountains at an altitude of 600-1200 meters. They don’t like moisture and are afraid of waterlogging. They are cold-resistant and highly adaptable. However, you must choose well-ventilated soil when planting. Pistachios are very susceptible to late frost damage, so be careful to avoid the wind.

2. Fertilizer and water management : Daily maintenance of pistachios is based on scientific fertilization. Young trees should be fertilized once a year, and once every 2-3 years after fruiting. The third time is after the fruit is harvested, usually when the soil is turned over in autumn. Plenty of watering before winter will have better results.
