Winter Spinach Planting Time

The planting time for winter spinach is from early October to early November in autumn. Sowing during this period is conducive to its growth and development. It can also grow stably before the weather turns cold, which can help it survive the winter and can be harvested after the Spring Festival.

Winter Spinach Planting Methods and Tips

1. Soil

Before sowing winter spinach, you should choose acidic soil that is fertile and loose and has convenient drainage and irrigation. Apply enough base fertilizer before sowing, plow the ground to make it flat and free of hard clods, and make beds of appropriate height according to the climate at that time.

2. Planting

One week before sowing winter spinach, soak the seeds in warm water for 12 hours in advance. After taking them out, place them in a cool and ventilated place for 24 hours to let them dry naturally. Then place them at a temperature of about 20°C to germinate. After germination in 3 to 5 days, you can sow them. When sowing, just sprinkle the seeds in the ridges and finally cover them with a thin layer of fine soil.

Precautions for planting winter spinach

After sowing winter spinach, keep the soil moist. Add diluted fertilizer when 2 leaves appear. After 4 leaves appear, proper control of water can help it survive the winter. When encountering very cold weather, cover the surface with a layer of plastic film to help it resist the cold.
