How and when to plant Chinese cabbage

Suitable planting time for Chinese cabbage

Cabbage is both heat-resistant and cold-resistant, and grows very fast, so the planting time is very wide and can be carried out all year round. If it is in the southern region, it is generally planted in spring or autumn. If it is in the northern region, the summer is not very hot, so it can be planted in spring, summer and autumn.

Cabbage planting methods and key points

1. Planting

Before sowing, place the cabbage seeds in the sun for three days, then soak them in warm water for 5 hours, and then place them in a constant temperature of 25℃. They will germinate after three days. Sprinkle the germinated seeds in moist soil, cover them with a layer of fine soil, and small sprouts will soon grow.

2. Planting

When the small buds grow three leaves, they can be transplanted. When transplanting, you must pay attention to controlling the reasonable density, with a plant spacing of 40 cm. In addition, you must remember to water them once when transplanting. You can increase the frequency of watering appropriately later, but the amount of watering each time needs to be controlled and should not be too much.

Points to note in daily management of Chinese cabbage

1. In the early stage of cabbage planting, attention should be paid to drainage, waterlogging prevention, drought prevention and weeding. Fertilizer and water should be added in the middle stage, and water and fertilizer should be controlled before harvest. When the new roots begin to enter the soil about 7 days after the seedlings are planted, fertilizer should be applied to promote root growth. In the early stage of the rosette, decomposed human feces and compound fertilizer should be applied.

2. The main diseases of cabbage during its growth period are club root, black rot, downy mildew, damping-off and stem rot. Once a disease occurs, it must be treated in time to prevent the diseased plants from infecting other healthy plants, causing economic losses and losing the edible value of the cabbage.
