The best planting time and method of cosmos: key points of cultivation and management

Best time to plant cosmos

In the south of my country, cosmos can be planted in April every year, and it will bloom and bear fruit in June and July. In the north, especially in the northeast where the temperature is very low, it is mostly necessary to wait until April to May to sow cosmos, so it often takes until July to August for it to bloom.

Cosmos growth cycle

The growth cycle of Cosmos is about seven months. Its growth stages start from sowing, followed by germination, seedling, bud and flower maturity. During the flower maturity stage, the surrounding growth environment must be strictly controlled, which can appropriately extend the flowering period and improve the ornamental value.

Methods and steps for planting cosmos

1. Planting

Cosmos is mostly grown by sowing. If you don't sow specifically, don't worry, because the seeds of Cosmos have the ability to sow themselves. After planting in the first year, a large number of self-seeded seedlings may be produced in the next year. With a little care, they will bloom as usual.

2. Cuttings

If you use cuttings to grow cosmos, you can first select thick branches and cut an 8 cm long section as cuttings. You can insert 3-5 pieces into a flower pot, bury them in the soil, water them, and provide proper shade. They will take root in half a month. After taking root, apply thin fertilizer once every half a month.
