Balcony planting methods and management techniques for loofah. What size pot is suitable?

It is a good idea to grow loofah on the balcony. If the balcony is large enough and the lighting conditions are good, you can cultivate loofah. It can not only be used as a vegetable, but also beautify the balcony. Due to the different planning of the balconies, we can give free rein to the loofah vines and bend them into the shape we like.

Steps to grow loofah on the balcony

1. Prepare the potting soil: Before planting loofah, you must choose a good container. You can use a large container or a foam box and put in fertile, loose, and well-drained soil. Loofah is generally planted in late spring and early summer, and you can choose to sow in sunny weather.

2. Soak the seeds before sowing: Before planting loofah, soak the seeds in 30-degree warm water for three or four hours, then wrap them with a wet towel and place them in a warm place to germinate. You can sow them after the seeds turn white.

3. Sowing and planting: Sprinkle the loofah seeds evenly on the soil, cover with a thin layer of soil, water thoroughly and wait for germination. During this period, keep the soil moist. If the ambient temperature is low, cover with plastic film to keep warm.

Key points for growing loofah on the balcony

After planting loofah, a certain amount of light must be provided, but it cannot be placed directly in the sun, because the seedlings are still relatively fragile. If the sunlight is too strong, it will burn the plant. After it grows vigorously, move it to a place with sufficient light.

During the growth period of loofah seedlings, top dressing is carried out to ensure its growth. Generally, microbial fertilizers special for fruits and vegetables are applied. After the seedlings grow to a certain height, bamboo or branches can be inserted to fix the vines, allowing them to climb and grow.
