Which variety of osmanthus is suitable for potted plants (which variety of osmanthus is the best and most fragrant for home potted plants)

Osmanthus is one of the traditional four famous flowers. It can be seen everywhere in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It is a commonly used tree species in parks, courtyards, and road greening.

Osmanthus is evergreen all year round and has a strong scent. The smell is refreshing and is loved by everyone.

There are many varieties of osmanthus, but based on the differences between the north and the south, I recommend that the best potted plant for flower lovers in the south is the "Four Seasons Osmanthus", while in the north, my suggestion is the "August Osmanthus" from Henan.

Osmanthus fragrans

Osmanthus fragrans 'Zhuangyuanhong' can bloom for three seasons and have flowers all year round in the south as long as the light, temperature and nutrients are balanced.

The color of the flowers of Osmanthus fragrans is more orange-red or red. The flowers are also relatively large. The fragrance is not as strong as that of Osmanthus fragrans. However, this does not affect its status among osmanthus flowers. It is the well-deserved first among osmanthus varieties.

However, Osmanthus fragrans is more common in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Because among all the osmanthus varieties, Osmanthus fragrans is the least cold-resistant. Generally, it cannot adapt to places where the temperature is below minus 8 degrees Celsius.

August Laurel

August laurel is named for its "August laurel fragrance". It can also bloom in other seasons in the south, but the main flowering period is in August.

The flowers of August laurel are small, but there are more of them. The fragrance is also strong. It is not planted on a large scale in the south, mainly because the flowering period is short.

August laurel has good cold resistance. When planting, as long as you pay more attention to the insulation work in the winter of the first two years, it can withstand the low temperature of -15 degrees Celsius in the later period.

However, potted plants can survive the winter at about -10 degrees Celsius. The most common sweet-scented osmanthus in the north is the August laurel, which is grafted with more cold-resistant plants such as tassels as rootstocks.
