When is the best time to transplant grapes?

When transplanting grapes, it should be noted that grapes are not suitable for transplanting on acidic or alkaline soils. It is best if the soil pH value is around 6-5, and the soil drainage and irrigation are normal, to ensure that the grapes can grow normally after transplanting.

Grape transplanting time

Generally speaking, the time for transplanting grapes is in spring and summer, specifically March to April in spring and June to July in summer. The temperature and humidity in these two time periods are more suitable for the growth of grapes, thereby increasing the survival rate of grapes after transplanting.

Grape transplanting method

The method of transplanting grapes is relatively simple. Note that before transplanting the grape vines, you can dig a hole in advance, prepare the planting location, properly handle the grape vines, cut off the excess branches and leaves of the grapes, and trim the excess side branches. Then, straighten the grapes and transplant them into the hole.

Management of grapes after transplanting

After transplanting the grapes, top dressing should be done to help the grape seedlings repair their roots. Common decomposed farmyard manure can be used as fertilizer, but attention should be paid to the amount of fertilizer applied. Too much fertilizer will cause root burn and further deepen the root damage.

Also, pay attention to the location of topdressing. It should not be close to the roots, but should be kept at least 20 cm away. Topdressing should be done according to the growth of the seedlings and the fertility of the soil to promote the growth of grapes after transplanting.
