Growing directions

Plant in well-drained, gritty potting mix in bright, indirect light to partial sun, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. String of Hearts produces long, thin, trailing stems draped with small, heart-shaped, marbled gray-green and silver leaves, occasionally accented with a pink or purple blush, making it a favorite hanging basket and shelf plant that cascades gracefully over a container edge. It is a true succulent and rots quickly in overly wet, poorly drained soil, so err on the side of underwatering, particularly in winter when growth slows. In zone 9a it is best grown in a container that can be moved indoors or under cover during freezes, since it has very little cold tolerance, unlike more cold-hardy garden succulents.
