Growing directions

Plant dry tubers barely below the soil surface in late summer in sharply drained, humus-rich soil under deciduous trees where they will receive dappled light; hardy cyclamen naturalize freely under conditions that defeat most shade perennials, producing nodding pink-to-white swept-back flowers in autumn before the ivy-patterned silver-marbled leaves emerge and carpet the ground through winter and spring. The tubers expand slowly into flat pancake-like corms that can live for decades; never bury them deeply or they will rot. Allow the summer dormancy period (foliage yellows and disappears) naturally — do not water when plants are dormant. Self-sown seedlings take 3–4 years to reach flowering size but eventually colonize shady spots without any management.
